The majestic Buriti palm tree, reaching heights of up to 30 meters, holds immense significance among indigenous communities, often hailed as the "tree of life." Its versatility is renowned, and the fibers derived from its leaves are utilized to create biojewelry, baskets, hats, footwear, and an array of handmade items. While native to the Amazon region, the Buriti palm also thrives within the Brazilian Cerrado Biome, an extraordinary and unique ecosystem covering Brazil’s north-center.
Bananas, known for their abundance in Brazil, flourish in the tropical climate, making the country an ideal location for their thriving growth. The fruits themselves are highly consumed in the country, but the fibers extracted from the sheath lining of the banana trunk play a pivotal role in this collection. The fiber extraction process can be carried out throughout the year, as the trunk is carefully cut to allow for regrowth and continued fruit production.
